Those who have been following the drift of what I have said here and those who hear me in Rugby will have worked out that I am 100% in favour of women in the episcopate. Ever since the day I was converted to the cause at a Movement for the Ordination of Women meeting in Church House Westminster back in 1982 (I guess ... and that's another story) I have longed for the church to recognise the vocation of women in all its fullness.
However, I am worried about the legislation and its ability to pass the high barrier of 2/3rd majority in each house of the General Synod. For a very good resume of my fears I turn to a blogger with whom i usually disagree completly, but Peter: Thanks for this...
